Hackers Target Sindh Education Ministers’ Phone Numbers

top-news

KARACHI: Hackers have reportedly started targeting the phone numbers of ministers in the Sindh Cabinet, prompting the Sindh government to seek the assistance of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against these cybercriminals.

Recently, two senior government officials received phone calls from what appeared to be the number of Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah. However, the calls, which later turned out to be fraudulent, contained instructions that raised suspicions among the officials. One of them noted that the voice on the call did not resemble that of Minister Sardar Shah, leading them to report the incident to the Education Department.

In a separate incident, staff members of another Sindh Cabinet minister received instructions via messages sent from a compromised number. These messages included specific directives, such as a request to promote an officer.

The Sindh government is treating these security breaches with utmost seriousness and is working closely with the FIA to identify and apprehend the hackers responsible for these fraudulent communications.
